"Hira Ferro Alloys Limited" has installed production capacity to produce Manganese 50,000Tonnes (Per Annum) equivalent Ferro Manganese from total 26.6 MVA Furnaces.
Process: Electrothermic Process: Manganese Based Ferro Alloys are produced in Sub Merged Arc Furnace (SAF). Following raw materials are used in the process:
|
| Manganese Ore: |
Major Burden Material |
| MnO Slag: |
As a source of "Free Mn Content"; Qty depends upon Mn Ore qty |
| Electric Power: |
As per final product mix |
| Dolomite: |
As Flux |
| Coke: |
As Reductants & Fuel |
|
Mn Ore and the other constituents are smelted in the furnace to get the desired product. Electric Power is fed through a high voltage transformer. Metal & Slag are tapped from the hearth of the furnace into Cast Iron Pans. The product is cooled and broken into desired sized. Slag which forms is simultaneously in the process separated by a skimmer and flushed out for further processing

Applications: The main uses of Ferro Alloys are in the Steel Industry for:
ü Steel Making ü Secondary Refining ü Alloying of Steel
